Welcome to the BVWS website

Special Auction at Royal Wootton Bassett
Sunday 7th February 2016

The BVWS has made arrangements to hold a Special Auction Only event at Royal Wootton Bassett on the 7th February 2016.

There will be 400 auction lots. There are lots of radios, masses of valves, some very interesting huge transmitter valves, a good quantity of early pre-1920's and 1920's valves, TV's (B&W 405 and some early Colour sets), loads of draws full of components, test gear, Eddystone receivers, R1155's, gramophones, WW radio magazines, valve testers, early light bulbs, novelty radios etc...

The doors will open at 9am for viewing and the auction will start at 11am.

The usual hot food and drinks will be available throughout the day. The BVWS Capacitor sales table will be running, but no Bring & Buy.

You will need to be a paid up member of the BVWS to transact in the auction so if you have not yet renewed your membership, there is no time like the present. Either send in your renewal form, or you can contact the membership Secretary by phone and pay by card.

The auction catalogue and photos of many of the lots are now available HERE.

The British Vintage Wireless Society (BVWS) is a society of over 1200 World-wide members sharing a common interest in the preservation and communication of technical and historical data, and the preservation and restoration of Vintage radio and related equipment.

We publish a quarterly Bulletin containing a wide range of restoration and historical articles, photographs of events, Society news etc. This is a high quality publication. A sample bulletin is available on this website.

We hold regular meetings around the UK. Our main event takes place at Harpenden twice a year, with smaller meetings held in Wiltshire, Cheshire and East Sussex. These meetings have stalls selling vintage radio and related items, and often also include a bring-and-buy stall, working displays of vintage equipment, historical presentations and an auction. Refreshments are available at reasonable prices. Take a look at the events diary page for current details.

The Society regularly produces supplements for members, consisting of both Technical, historic and documentary interest. Over the past few years we have produced (with Copyright permission) CD-ROMs of the Trader Service sheets 1 to 1899, all BVWS Bulletins no longer in print and all editions of 405 Alive magazine, several DVDs containing historic films, plus a number of other paper supplements and our own history book. These are all free to members.

Our Society relies on new membership, new Bulletin articles and new ideas to enable it to flourish and secure its future for generations to come. If you have an interest in collecting and restoring old equipment, or just looking at or listening to old radios, televisions or Hi-Fi, then why not consider becoming a BVWS member.

An application form can be found on the join the BVWS page. You could also contact the Membership Secretary who will be happy to send you a sample Bulletin and answer any questions about the Society.
